Q: What is DRM and why is it necessary?

A: CafeScribe licenses learning materials from textbook publishers and authors. Our licensing agreement requires us to place limitations on copying, pasting and printing digital learning materials. These access controls are called Digital Rights Management, or DRM.

Q: When will more textbook titles be available in digital editions?

A: We are working closely with the largest publishers to make digital textbooks available. If you are a professor and would like to request a specific title, please send us an email at info@cafescribe.com. If your campus store is operated by Follett, please contact your bookstore manager.

Q: Will CafeScribe work within my LMS?

A: Yes, CafeScribe is designed for interoperability with most Learning Management Systems. Send us an email at info@cafescribe.com for further LMS information.

Q: Will CafeScribe work with Blackboard?

A: CafeScribe integrates easily with Blackboard® release 9.0 and higher. The CafeScribe Blackboard Building Block™ can be downloaded by your campus system administrator at the Blackboard® client support website. The Blackboard Learn™ plug-in allows you to stay in your learning environment while accessing your course materials.

Q: Do CafeScribe digital textbooks include supplemental materials that usually come with a physical textbook?

A: No. CafeScribe digital textbooks do not include media (e.g., CDs, DVDs, Access Codes, etc.) or print supplements that may be packaged or bundled with print books.

Q: My book has a section blocked out and it states “Text not available due to copyright restrictions” or “Content not available due to copyright restrictions”. Why does this occur?

A: Publishers do not always have legal permission to include third party photos, charts, case studies or graphics in the CafeScribe edition of their books. In these cases, the content is replaced with a message stating “Text not available due to copyright restrictions” or “Content not available due to copyright restrictions”.
