Can I run MyScribe from a USB flash drive? |
|
We know that it's sometimes easier to drop into a computer lab with all your files on a USB flash drive rather than lugging that laptop around all day. To support highly-mobile users like you we created MyScribe Portable (Windows only).
Get Started with MyScribe Portable
- Install MyScribe to your standard computer if you haven't already done so
- After you sign-in in MyScribe, go to the File > Copy MyScribe to USB Drive menu option
- Select the drive where you want to save the MyScribe Portable files. This will likely be something like the E:/ or F:/ drive depending on what other drives are currently mounted on your current computer
- Select Ok
- After the files and content are copied, you can run MyScribe Portable by executing the MyScribePortable.exe in the MyScribe directory on your flash drive
MyScribe Portable FAQ:
- Is there a limit to how many computers I can use with MyScribe Portable?
You can use MyScribe Portable on three computers in a 24-hour period. Please contact us if you feel that limit should be changed
- Will all of my books redownload each time I use MyScribe Portable?
No, the books are stored on your flash drive in an encrypted format so they will not redownload
- Is Internet access necessary to use MyScribe Portable?
Yes, you must have Internet access from the computer where you are temporarily using MyScribe Portable. MyScribe Portable uses the Internet to request a license key to decrypt the book content on the flash drive.
